Software Engineer


ASDA Technology is going through a significant transformation from a traditional delivery organisation, to a Digital and DevOps based model with a relentless focus on our customer. A fantastic opportunity is available for a Software Engineer to join one of our Scrum Teams. You'll need to have hands on experience with front end languages including one or more JavaScript Frameworks ideally in a mobile environment, in return you'll get to see the Applications your team build being used by Colleagues and external Customers.


  • Deliver quality technical designs for new or existing Applications
  • Take accountability for deliverables from the product backlog
  • Contribute to the Software community of practise and culture of knowledge sharing
  • Maintain ASDAs development principals and coding guidelines




  • Experience of design and development with front end languages including one or more JavaScript Frameworks (e.g. React, React Native, NodeJS, Typescript, Redux, NPM).
  • Experience in Design, Build and Operate Cloud based Microservices (AWS, Azure) and Containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience of object orientated programming languages and techniques e.g. C#, Java
  • Practitioner of source code management, branching and Continuous Integration
  • Experience of working in an Agile delivery environment and an awareness of other methodologies (Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban)
  • Awareness of Test-first, Secure by default and Continual service transition ways of working
  • Experience in relational / non-relational databases.
