Junior Data DBA – Salary £25,000 - £39,000 + Bonus
Asda Technology have created over 60 new roles this year with an additional 19 roles within the Data team.  The business are putting Technology at the forefront of the business and the technology team have increased headcount ever single year!!   It's a really exciting time to join Asda technology and there are lots of opportunities for progression for the right individual.


You will be accountable for assisting in the management of the Fasttrack Data Warehouse and deliver data developments as directed by Development Manager and Support Manager.  These solutions will be used by up to 200,000 colleagues and impact our 20 million+ regular customers.  You will be a member of teams made up of internal and external resource, both on-shore and in our Offshore Development Centres in Bangalore and Kolkata. Through your role you will develop new working relationships with Walmart colleagues.



  • Perform troubleshooting of Data warehouse performance issues. Optimise poorly running queries.
  • Review database change scripts and offer feedback and coaching to others where required
  • Contribute to the database design of BI projects
  • Contribute to the Data warehouse design and development standards
  • Work with developers on the most efficient Data warehouse database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, indexes etc)
  • Assessing the impact of changes, ensuring the availability and performance of systems are not affected
  • Pro-actively identify better ways of working and efficiency savings in the team
  • Management of Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, SSAS) across all environments.
  • Own and maintain development and testing SQL Server environments



  • Good technical skills in SQL Server Administration (desirable SQL Server 2016 onwards) including monitoring access, security and managing availability and backups.
  • Experienced in monitoring and analysing performance issues
  • Knowledge of managing a large scale data warehouse with large transactional volumes
  • Appreciation of data warehousing design principles (Kimball / Immon methodologies).
  • Good technical skills in Microsoft BI Stack – (SSIS, SSRS required, SSAS desirable).
